Frequently Asked Questions

   Here at Kasie’s Canine Academy, we use balanced training techniques using all 4 quadrants of operant conditioning. We do not use a cookie cutter approach to train dogs because we train the individual dog in front of us based on what that individual dog needs. We want the dog to work for us because they want to. Our goal with every client is to improve their relationship with their dog by learning how to understand their dog’s behavior and communicate properly with them. We always use reinforcers (treats/ toys) when training dogs. However, some dogs need corrections, this is where the balance comes in. Our training can include the use of  training tools to correct certain behaviors if needed. We wait until the dog has a clear understanding of what we are asking of them before implementing any corrections in our training. Life is not all sunshine and rainbows, we as humans learn that some things are just not acceptable from a very young age. We have to teach our dogs that some things are just not acceptable, and with several dogs, that involves using corrective tools. We do not train in a "purely positive" way here at Kasie's Canine Academy. We do use positive reinforcement but Positivity alone (treats/ toys/ affection) will not be enough to break dangerous habits and keep you/ other dogs safe. We believe in balance with the use of all 4 quadrants of operant conditioning using both reinforcers and corrections. 

No, we will take on any breed of dog at any age. No dog is too old or too young for new tricks. 

 There is no travel fee for sessions inside Sulphur Springs and the surrounding areas within 30 miles. If travel is needed further than 30 miles of Sulphur Springs, there is a travel fee. Price is dependent on current fuel prices.  

Yes, we do train service dogs if the dog has what it takes. This is a very specific training need so it depends on the tasks needed for the person and if the dog has what it takes. 

Yes, we do offer in home training sessions. A travel fee does apply to distances greater than 20 miles from Sulphur Springs Texas.

Typically once every 2 weeks but it all depends on the dogs progress and how well you (the owner) have been keeping up with their homework. We understand that life happens, this is why most of our packages are custom (except for group classes)

Yes, we offer considerable discounts for multi-dog households enrolled in training. 

Each package will require a non refundable deposit upon booking. For board and train packages only, 50% is due at drop off and 50% due when the dog returns home. All other packages require payment due by the first session. 

Our Board and Train programs are completely custom. Depending on the dogs needs and what all is included in the package, we will make an estimation of how long we think it will take ( typically 4-6 weeks). We will keep the dogs longer if needed to make sure that the training you paid for is solid. Every single dog is different and we never know what obstacles we may face when we start the training journey. We are not in a rush here. We want to be sure that your expectations have been met Whenever we deliver your dog back home. 

Our Board and Train programs are very different than most out there. We want to be sure that you're involved in your dogs training. We want you to see your dog at least once while they are here with us for their training. We want to make sure that you are happy with their progress and training. We also use this opportunity to catch you up on all that they have been learning so that you will be prepared for when they come home. You are still going to need to be structured and work with them when they come home. They will be trying to push boundaries and this is why we train together throughout the program and after your dog comes home to ensure the transition of going home is smooth and effective.

No dog is going to be a robot, there is always going to be homework that you need to do to keep up with your dogs training.  However, after the board and train, you will know how to effectively communicate, control, and maintain your dogs training.
