At Kasie's Canine Academy, We can assist you in finding a good service dog candidate to train as a service dog or we can evaluate a dog that you already have. Not every dog has what it takes to be a service dog. Service dogs are highly trained dogs to assist an individual with mitigating a disability. If you are looking to be able to take your pet dog into Walmart because you want to take them everywhere, that is NOT a service dog. Unless the dog is trained to help mitigate a disability for somebody, it is illegal for a pet dog to have public access to places that are not pet friendly. Here at Kasie's Canine Academy, we take service dog training very seriously. It is not a fast nor easy process. It is a life changing commitment that is life saving for an individual. We train Autism assistance dogs, Mobility Assistance dogs, and Hearing Alert dogs.
This is a dog trained to assist with individuals with autism. For individuals that can be their own dogs handler, behavior interruption and LAY are common tasks. For children that cannot handle their dog, parents are the main dogs handler. This is a popular option for parents with young children that like to RUN. These dogs can be life altering for parents in providing peace of mind that they do not always have to have hands on their child or worry about them bolting constantly whenever they are out in public.
Children are NEVER to be tethered to their dog without the parent or guardian holding the other end of the dogs leash. We never recommend leaving a child tethered to a dog alone. Tethering is where the dog is trained to brace in an emergency down whenever the child tries to bolt away. Overtime it provides the child with some independence and teaching them to stay with their parents without having to be physically restrained by the parents.
This is where the dog is trained to lay on the individual to provide deep pressure therapy. This can help regulate their body when they are overstimulated.
Dogs can be trained to disrupt a self harming stim, such as hand picking, face picking, head banging, etc. They can disrupt their person by pushing with their nose, pawing, barking, putting their body in the way of something to block the person, etc
This is where the dog is trained to assist in finding a child after they have run away. The dog will be trained in scent discrimination trailing to follow their source of odor wherever they went.
Public access training is the hardest part of service dog training. Your service dog cannot be fearful of anything. We train them to ignore all distractions to focus on the tasks they need to perform for their person. We take them to restaurants, theaters, museums, school, airports, hospitals, etc to make sure their training is solid everywhere that you may end up taking them. Handler training is the next step, and the most important one. Training is extensive but if the handlers are not trained on how to properly handle the dog and maintain the training, the dog will stop performing eventually. We teach our handlers everything that may need to to know. what to feed the service dogs, what to keep in you car, emergency situations, the laws regarding service dogs, DOs and DONTs, and how to keep your tasks sharp in all areas for the rest of their life.

These dogs are commonly used for people in wheelchairs. These dogs greatly improve the quality of life for their handlers by enhancing their independence.
